Admiral Group's philosophy is that people who enjoy what they do, do it better so the company is structured to encourage employees to do this.
Admiral consistently make every effort to promote their managers from within the organisation therefore ensuring that line managers have grown up with and fully understand the ‘Admiral’ way of managing. To support this there is a comprehensive rolling programme designed to train and develop managers in order to make the most of their skills and abilities.
Admiral have their own dedicated Ministry of Fun created to make work a fun place to be. Leadership of the Ministry changes hands every month giving each team a chance to create their own impact by using a set budget to devise ways of making work fun. Sometimes it can be simple things such as Welsh cakes for St David’s Day but it can become a little more varied with office golf, pumpkin carving or cake baking. The main event in the calendar is the Admiral Group’s Pirate Party which rewards staff for their hard work, the last one was headlined by the Sugababes.
The CEO Henry Engelhardt meets all new employees during their induction period and presents them with a piece of jigsaw puzzle, which is the foundation of Admiral Group, as the picture is incomplete without each piece and every piece is as important as each other. He also helps as much as possible, walks the floors and talks to staff and has an open door policy – anyone in the company can speak to him either by e-mail or in person. He also takes part in Ministry Of Fun events and was the referee of the most recent Egg Roulette competition. This encourages everyone to have fun, as they see the leader of the organisation leading by example.
