Right across the UK Atkins have helped schools and local communities, by appointing a network of house managers who co-ordinate and promote these activities through their offices. The Atkins volunteers go into schools providing projects, literature, fun activities and career advice. In addition to this Atkins volunteers help homeless men and women by taking part in soup kitchens, serving and washing up.
Fun is encouraged as after all people spend a lot of their time at work and Atkins feels that this time needs to be interesting and fun. There is a range of social events such as fun days, day trips and celebrations where employee’s families are often invited. To monitor the balance between work and home life all staff are required to complete a weekly timesheet as time is allocated and invoiced to their clients, this also ensures compliance with the working time regulations.
Atkins provides a very extensive portfolio of training and development at all levels, this covers technical, people, stakeholder and commercial options.
