Benefits

Mission/Vision

Mission: To relieve poverty and bring justice to those in need through top quality debt counselling services. To do it through a growing network of centres based in local churches and in such a way that people experience and can respond to the love of Jesus. Vision: Debt is a huge national problem requiring a national response. Christians Against Poverty’s vision is to have a CAP centre operating in every town and city throughout the UK by 2014 so anyone suffering as a result of debt and poverty, anywhere in the UK, can access CAP's life transforming service.

Best Workplace Factors

Leadership

The Leader, Matt Barlow, has annual meetings with all employees but rather than addressing the company as a whole he meets the staff in groups of four or five people to give feedback and suggestions about any area of the charity’s operations. He also spends three or four days a week working at desks in different departments rather than his own office in an effort to keep in touch with going on in the charity.

My Company

CAP has created a culture of appreciation and encouragement. From the trustee/management board, through the senior management team and down to department managers, a culture of genuine appreciation for every staff member has been fostered. They won the UK Charity Times Best Charity to Work For in 2006 and 2007 adding to the sense of pride that comes with working for CAP where they see thousands of lives being changed through their work.

Giving Something Back

Being a charity, all employees give some voluntary time each year to help other departments/areas of the charity, and to help run client events and client breaks. The level of enthusiastic commitment by all staff to doing this is high, and reflects the fact that CAP employees believe working for CAP is not merely a job, but also a cause to which it is worth giving personal time and effort.
